How we report and edit
These are the working rules our editorial team and contributors follow on every story, from a two-paragraph market update to a longer regulatory explainer. They exist so that a reader can trust a Crypto News US byline without having to independently verify each claim, and so that our own team has a consistent standard to hold each other to.
Sourcing
Every factual claim is tied to a source we can point to. For regulatory and policy stories, that means primary documents wherever they exist: SEC EDGAR filings, CFTC releases and orders, IRS guidance, court filings, and agencies’ own public statements, rather than secondhand paraphrases. For market data, we use keyless, quota-free public providers, including CoinPaprika, Binance, alternative.me, and DefiLlama, and we say where a number came from. We do not present rumor, anonymous social-media claims, or a single unverified source as established fact; where confirmation is limited, we say so explicitly rather than implying more certainty than we have.
Bylines, and what they mean
Named bylines on Crypto News US are editorial personas — desk identities that signal a story’s beat and the standards it was held to — and not real individuals. That is disclosed on each author page, on our About page, and in our Ethics Policy. A persona is only acceptable if the reader is told it is one. Collaborative and data-desk pieces run under the collective Crypto News US Editorial Team byline.
No persona carries an invented credential, employment history, award, or photograph, and we never publish a real person’s name or likeness as a contributor without their consent. If an individual contributor is ever bylined as a real person, that name, biography, and credentials must be real, verifiable, and used with their consent, and we will distinguish them clearly from the desk personas.
Updates and corrections
Stories about developing regulatory or market events are updated as facts change, and we note when a piece has been materially updated. Errors are corrected openly rather than quietly edited away; see our Corrections Policy for how we log and disclose fixes. Getting it right matters more to us than being first, and we would rather publish a slightly later, accurate story than a fast, wrong one.
No paid coverage
We do not accept payment, free products, or any other consideration in exchange for favorable coverage, a specific rating, or inclusion in a story. Advertising and affiliate relationships exist and are disclosed on our Affiliate Disclosure page, but they are kept strictly separate from editorial decisions. An advertiser gets no say in what we report about them or anyone else.
Predictions are opinion, not advice
Where we or a contributor publish a market prediction or forecast, it runs as clearly labeled opinion, in our opinion and market-predictions coverage, and it is never presented as a guaranteed outcome or a personalized recommendation. We hold predictions to a balance standard: a forecast should acknowledge the case against itself, not just the case for it. Confident, one-sided price calls with no acknowledgment of downside risk do not meet our bar, regardless of who is making them.
AI assistance, disclosed
We use AI tools to assist with research, drafting, and routine production tasks. We do not use them to replace human editorial judgment, and every piece we publish is written, fact-checked, and approved by a person on our team. We do not claim any of our content is “100% human,” because that claim would not be accurate about how our newsroom, or most modern newsrooms, actually work; we would rather be honest about the process than make an unverifiable claim about it.
Independence
Coverage decisions are made by our editorial team based on newsworthiness and relevance to US crypto readers, not by advertisers, affiliate partners, or the subjects of our reporting.
